• The Self-Employed Persons Program allows people to obtain a PR by self-employment. 
• Interested candidates must have relevant experience, can be self-employed in Canada, meet the program’s selection criteria, and meet the medical, security and the other required conditions 
• Relevant experience must be for at least 2 years and within 5 years before applying
  • Taken part in cultural activities or athletics at world-class level 
  • Or be a self-employed person in cultural activities or athletics 
• Selection criteria includes experience, education, age, language abilities, adaptability as well as medical exams and police certificates 

•  The Atlantic Immigration Program is a pathway for skilled foreign workers and international graduates from a Canadian institution to obtain PR and work/reside in the Atlantic provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and Labrador. 
• each province has its own application process 
• For international graduates or skilled foreign worker: you must receive a job offer from a designated employer 
  • One must either be a recent graduate of a recognized Atlantic Canada post-secondary institution or a skilled worker

•  The New Brunswick Critical Worker Pilot is a five year pilot program that is an employer-driven steam to address critical labour shortages to attract skilled workers through the participating employers:

• One must accept full-time, permanent employment from a participating employer prior to applying for the program as well as meeting eligibility requirements. 

•  The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot is a community-driven program for skilled foreign workers to obtain PR by working and residing in a participating community.

• The communities will assess candidates who best fit the community’s needs, have a genuine employment opportunity that meets the community requirements, and have the intention to stay in the community 
• The community will recommend candidates to the IRCC for a final decision for PR

•  The Start-Up Visa Program targets immigrant entrepreneurs with the skills and potential to build businesses in Canada that can compete globally, creat jobs for Canadians, and are innovative. 
• To apply, one must pitch the qualifying start-up to a emigrated organization and gain their support
• One must also meet the language requirements
• While waiting to obtain PR from the Start-Up visa program, one may apply for a temporary work permit
• Get a letter of support from at least one designated organization 
  • Venture capital funds
  • Angel investor groups
  • Business incubators with committed capital 
  • Organizations in Canada’s Tech Network labelled “Priority Processing”  

• The Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) application is a pathway for individuals who do not meet the standard immigration requirements but face exceptional circumstances that justify their stay in Canada. It allows applicants to request permanent residence based on hardship they would face if required to leave.
